What is a points + rebounds prop, exactly?
It’s one market with two ingredients. If a WNBA forward scores 18 and grabs 9 boards, her points + rebounds figure is 27. A line of o/u 26.5 cashes the over. Same idea for points + assists, or the three-way version (points + rebounds + assists, often listed as PRA).
Why do books offer them? Two reasons.
- They’re harder to price in your head. Two distributions stacked together are messier than one.
- They’re popular. Combos feel safer to casual bettors because “he only needs a few boards.”
- They’re a natural parlay substitute. One ticket, two stats, no correlation rules to fight.

Why combo lines are less volatile than single stats
Adding two stats together shrinks your relative swing. That’s the single most useful thing to understand about these markets.
Think about a guard averaging 18 points. Some nights she hits 9, some nights 28. That’s a wide range on a small base. Now add rebounds. Rebounds have their own variance, but the two don’t move perfectly together. When shots aren’t falling, more of her own misses come back to her side of the floor. When she’s hot, she’s spending less time crashing the glass.
The result: the combined number clusters tighter around its average than either piece does on its own. In practice, that means:
- Combo unders are less likely to be saved by one freak blowup game.
- Combo overs are less likely to be rescued by a single hot quarter.
- Role stability matters more than talent. Minutes drive combos.

The mistake almost everyone makes: adding two averages
Here’s the trap. A player averages 16.4 points and 5.1 rebounds. You add them, get 21.5, see a line of o/u 20.5, and slam the over. Feels obvious.
It isn’t, for three reasons.
1. Averages hide zeros
A season average includes blowouts, foul-trouble nights, and games where a player left early. Those low games drag the mean down without telling you how often the player actually clears a specific number. Hit rate answers the question the average dodges: how many times did this player beat this line?
2. The two stats can trade off
Scoring usage and rebounding usage compete for the same body. A player who takes over offensively often gives up glass work, and vice versa. When you add two averages, you silently assume both happen at full strength in the same game.
3. The line is not the number to beat
The price is. A 60% hit rate on a prop at -185 is not a bet. The same 60% at +106 is a completely different question. Run both through an implied probability calculator and the gap is obvious. That’s the whole game.
How to read hit rates and prices on points rebounds combo props
Start with the price, then check whether the history supports it. Not the other way around.
Here’s a real slice of StatsBench cheatsheet data from an August 11, 2026 WNBA snapshot (Indiana vs New York). Every row below cleared at the same rate, and the prices are nowhere near each other:

Same 6-of-10 history. Wildly different bets.
The Mitchell row at +164 only needs roughly a 38% true chance to break even. The Cunningham rows at -115 and -123 need about 53% and 55%. That’s why StatsBench graded the Cunningham combos as slightly negative edge despite the identical hit rate. Six of ten looks like a trend. Priced at -123, it’s a coin flip you’re paying a fee to take.
Hit rate tells you the shape. Price tells you whether to care.
What a 6-of-10 sample can and can’t tell you
Ten games is thin. It’s enough to notice a role change, not enough to prove a skill. A 60% clip over ten games could easily be a 50% player who got two friendly matchups. What short samples are good for: catching things season averages haven’t absorbed yet. A new starter. A teammate out. A coach who just shortened the rotation. Those change combo floors immediately, and season averages take weeks to catch up.
Where combo props actually go soft
Combos get mispriced in specific, findable situations. Four to watch:
- Injury-driven role bumps. When a starter sits, the replacement’s minutes jump before the books fully reprice the combined line. Minutes are the biggest input to any combo.
- Pace mismatches. More possessions means more shots and more rebounds. Both ingredients rise together.

- Low-number combos. A pts+reb line at 10.5 is mostly a minutes bet. Those go stale fast when a rotation changes.
Notice the Cunningham rebounds-only line in that same snapshot: o/u 1.5 at 60% hit, best price -185. That’s a market telling you it thinks the floor is nearly automatic. When books price the piece that aggressively, the combo built on top of it usually isn’t generous either.
Combos in baseball: hits + runs + RBIs
Baseball has the same structure under a different name. Hits + runs + RBIs (H+R+RBI) is a combo prop, and it behaves like one. From that same August 11, 2026 StatsBench snapshot, three Cleveland bats at Detroit:
- Angel Genao, H+R+RBI o/u 1.5: 60% hit (3/5), best +105, edge 1.1%
- Chase DeLauter, H+R+RBI o/u 1.5: 60% hit (6/10), best -125, edge 0.9%
- Brayan Rocchio, H+R+RBI o/u 0.5: 60% hit (6/10), best -223, edge 0.1%
Look at the Rocchio line. Sixty percent, and the price is -223. Break-even there is around 69%. StatsBench graded the edge at 0.1%, essentially nothing, because the market is already charging more than the history supports. Same 60% on Genao’s +105 is a genuinely different bet.
Baseball combos also carry an extra dependency: runs and RBIs need teammates. A hitter can do his job perfectly and still land on 1 because nobody was on base. Lineup slot matters more than most bettors account for. Our guide to reading MLB prop odds goes deeper on that.

A simple checklist before you take a combo
Run this in order. It takes about ninety seconds per prop.
- Confirm the role. Is this player’s minutes or lineup slot the same as during the sample?
- Convert the price to break-even probability. Do this before you form an opinion.
- Compare the hit rate to that break-even number. If it’s not clearly higher, move on.
- Check the matchup direction (pace, positional defense, opposing pitcher hand).
- Shop the price. A move from -123 to -110 is free value on the exact same bet.
- Size it small. Combos feel safe. That feeling is not information.

Should combos go in parlays?
Carefully. A combo prop is already doing what a two-leg parlay does, without the correlation penalty of stacking two separate markets. If you then parlay two combos from the same game, you’re compounding shared game conditions (pace, blowout risk, foul trouble) and the payout usually doesn’t compensate.

The honest summary
Combined-stat props are a decent place to work because the pricing is fuzzier than single-stat markets, and because most of the public gets there by adding two averages. But they’re not safer bets. They’re differently shaped bets, with lower variance per game and, often, more juice baked in.
