MLS Prop Picks Today, August 19, 2026 (Data-Backed)

Welcome to today’s board. This page carries our MLS prop picks today, and it refreshes every single day, so what you’re reading is the Wednesday, August 19, 2026 slate. Every line, hit rate, recent-form gap and price below comes straight out of the StatsBench player-prop data. Nothing here is invented, and nothing here is a lock.

Seven picks are below: six player props and one fixture market. Each one is the OVER side of its line. The data cards under each heading show the last 10 matches for that market, so you can check the shape of the sample yourself before you touch a price.

How today’s MLS prop picks were filtered

We sorted by recent-form gap, then threw out anything that looked like a stale line. The gap number is simply the last-10 over rate minus the de-vigged market-implied probability. It’s a form signal, not an expected-value figure, and a 10-match sample will always overstate it.

  • All picks are the OVER on their listed line.
  • Prices are the best over price we saw at the listed book. Shop them before you bet.
  • Two games appear more than once, and we flag that correlation where it happens.

Pep Biel OVER 0.5 shots on target (Charlotte at Toronto)

Biel has gone OVER in 100% of recent matches (10/10), and his last 5 sit at 100% too. That’s a clean sample with no fade in it, which is what you want from a -192 favorite at bwin. The L10-vs-market gap is +34.2%, the largest on today’s player board.

One caution: a 10-match sample inflates a gap that big. He is Charlotte’s set-piece and shooting hub, so the volume is structural rather than a hot streak, but at that price you’re paying for the certainty already.

Correlation note: Biel, Kristijan Kahlina and Richie Laryea all come from Charlotte at Toronto. Stacking them multiplies one game script instead of spreading risk.

Nouhou OVER 0.5 fouls won (Seattle Sounders vs Austin)

Nouhou is 10/10 in recent matches on this line, with the last 5 also at 100%. The recent-form gap is +31.7% against a -215 over price at DraftKings. Fouls-won props reward players who carry the ball into contact on the flank, and that’s his entire job description.

Full-back minutes are steady here, so the path to a bust is basically an early substitution or a red card. That’s the risk you’re accepting at this price.

Gerardo Valenzuela OVER 1.5 fouls won (Cincinnati vs New York City)

This is the best structured number on the slate. Valenzuela has cleared 1.5 fouls won in 90% of recent matches (9/10), and his last 5 are 100%, so the trend is pointing up rather than cooling off. The gap is +25.7% at -180, the cheapest price among our high-hit-rate overs.

A 1.5 line also gives you more room than the 0.5 props: he only needs two whistles, and he’s been getting them in bunches lately.

Correlation note: Valenzuela and James Sands are the same game (Cincinnati vs New York City). Same 90 minutes, same referee, same risk.

James Sands OVER 0.5 fouls won (New York City at Cincinnati)

Sands leads the entire board with a +38.5% recent-form gap, but read the sample first: 100% in recent matches on just 4/4, with the last 5 also at 100%. Four matches is thin. Treat this as a line worth shopping rather than a settled read.

The price helps. At -160 on DraftKings he’s the second-cheapest over here, and a deep-lying midfielder who receives under pressure is a natural fit for fouls won. Just size it like the small sample it is.

Silvan Hefti OVER 1.5 tackles (DC United vs New England)

Hefti is 9/10 in recent matches at OVER 1.5 tackles, and his last 5 are 100%. The gap is +21.7% at -215. Tackle props hinge on workload, and DC’s own rotation is worth a look: Conner Antley has dropped to 18.8 minutes over his last 5 from 47.8 across his last 10, which keeps Hefti’s defensive load unchallenged.

New England has its own minutes wobble, with Tanner Beason down to 10.8 minutes in his last 5 from 49.2 in his last 10. Neither number is a guarantee, but both point to Hefti seeing a full shift.

Andrés Cubas OVER 2.5 tackles (Vancouver Whitecaps vs Houston Dynamo)

Cubas clears 2.5 tackles in 90% of recent matches (9/10), though the last 5 slip to 80%. That’s a mild cool-off, not a collapse, and it’s fair to note the gap of +20.8% at -225 leans on the wider sample. He’s the highest-volume ball-winner in this Vancouver side.

Vancouver’s back line is thinning out in minutes as well: Ranko Veselinović is at 15.8 minutes over his last 5 versus 45.1 across his last 10. More defending in front of the box usually means more chances for the No. 6 to make tackles.

Kristijan Kahlina OVER 2.5 saves (Charlotte at Toronto)

Kahlina has gone OVER 2.5 saves in 90% of recent matches (9/10) with his last 5 at 100%, and the gap sits at +20.3% at -230. Goalkeeper save props are the one market where you actually want your team to be under pressure, so a road trip to Toronto suits it.

Remember the ceiling on this one is opponent-driven. If Toronto has a quiet night in front of goal, the number dies regardless of how well Kahlina plays.

Minnesota United vs Atlanta United, Both Teams to Score YES

Both sides have been scoring and conceding. Atlanta is at 80% over their last 10 matches, Minnesota at 70%, for a combined 75% at a -167 price with +20% EV, the strongest team-market number on today’s card. Atlanta is carrying this one, so if their attack no-shows, the bet leans hard on the home side.

Prior meetings offer almost nothing: 1/1 over, which is head-to-head trivia, not form. One extra wrinkle is Atlanta’s Ronald Hernández, down to 26.2 minutes across his last 5 from 56.2 in his last 10, a sign their defensive rotation is still in flux.

How StatsBench builds these hit rates and gaps

Two numbers do the work on this page. The hit rate is how often a player actually cleared the listed line across their recent league matches, pulled from real game logs, not projections. We show the raw fraction (9/10, 4/4) so you can see the sample instead of trusting a percentage.

The recent-form gap is the last-10 over rate minus the de-vigged market-implied probability for that same line. De-vigging strips the book’s juice out of the price to get a fair probability, then we subtract. It is a recent-form signal and nothing more.

Small samples overstate gaps. A +38.5% figure off 4 matches is a reason to go shop the number across books, not a reason to bet bigger. Validated long-run edges live in single digits, so treat anything larger as a prompt to double-check the current line.

A note on stacking correlated props

Three of today’s picks come from Charlotte at Toronto and two come from Cincinnati vs New York City. Those pairs share a referee, a game state and a tempo. Betting them together doesn’t diversify anything, it just multiplies exposure to one result. If you play more than one from the same match, size accordingly.

Responsible gambling

This page is research, not advice, and none of it is a guarantee. Anything can lose, even at a 90% recent hit rate, because variance is real and 10-match samples are small. Bet 21+ only, use money you can afford to lose, and keep it entertainment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often is this MLS picks page updated?

It’s refreshed every day with a new slate, and today’s version covers August 19, 2026. The same URL is reused instead of publishing a new post daily, so bookmark it and check back each morning.

What does the recent-form gap actually mean?

It’s the player’s last-10 over rate minus the de-vigged market-implied probability for that same line. It measures recent form versus the price, not expected value or projected profit, and small samples inflate it.

Why is every pick listed as the OVER?

Every hit rate in the StatsBench data reflects how often the player cleared the line, which is the over side. The attached data cards show the over too, so flipping to the under would contradict the numbers on the page.

Should I parlay picks from the same match?

Be careful. Three of today’s picks are from Charlotte at Toronto and two are from Cincinnati vs New York City, so those bets share one game script. Combining them multiplies the same risk rather than spreading it.

Does a 90% hit rate mean the bet will win?

No. A 90% rate over 10 matches is a small sample, and prices at -215 or -230 already build most of that probability in. Over the long run variance decides plenty of these, so there are no guarantees.
